CHROME FREE LEATHER
Taking care of water has been one of Biocueros' essential goals. This is why we have developed our chrome-free lines for leather goods, footwear and furniture.
Essential Chrome Free Collection
Our chrome-free Biocueros are the result of more than 10 years of research and development, our goal: to achieve a sustainable biodegradable leather that preserves and enhances the characteristics of the leather, in addition to reducing the impact in its production process. We are pioneers in the development of this line for furniture, leather goods and footwear in Colombia!

Chrome Free
These leathers are tanned without the use of chromium salts. In addition, in this product we reduced water consumption by 20%.
Reduced water consumption
Our chrome-free leathers use 20% less water compared to a traditional leather tanning process.
Sustainable tannery
Our chrome-free line is produced directly by us in our production plant. We have a wastewater treatment facility, which ensures that the water reaches the water sources in excellent condition.
Take care of the ozone layer
Our chrome-free leather uses water based products free of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds)
Lower time of biodegradability
Our chrome-free leathers biodegrade in 3-5 years in landfill conditions. Traditional tanned leather takes 30-50 years. Synthetic plastics such as PVC or PU take 500-1000 years.
Resistant and durable
The life cycle of our chrome-free leathers is equal to that of a traditionally tanned leather, which means that under normal use, products made with our leather can last 5 to 10 years in perfect condition. It has excellent resistance to traction, anchorage, flexion and rubbing. A variable to take into account is the temperature, compared to a traditionally tanned leather it resists lower temperature, we have also done tests in footwear and leather goods where they are subjected to high temperature processes and the results are excellent, we recommend testing and finding the optimum temperature. It is a new material and we have to adapt some variables of our production processes!
